Nature Isn't to Blame
The Los Angeles Times published an Op-Ed by Cynthia Barnett on Sunday entitled Nature isn't on a rampage. That would be us.
The implication is so spot on: We humans have a pathological tendency to first seek excuses outside of ourselves before looking in the mirror. "Can't be me, must be that guy," or "Climate change isn't human caused, its a natural cycle or an act of God." Anything to keep from shouldering the blame and taking responsibility.
It's like that old Fram Oil Filter commercial: You can pay me now or you can pay me later. Well, it looks like its time to pay up!
Between uncontrolled files out west, multiple major hurricanes in the east, flooding in Asia and overall global climate instability, we can no longer kick the can down the road.
It's time to take responsibility for our actions and look in the mirror.
