Clean Energy Investments Burying Dirty Energy so far during the Trump Administration
I receive a lot of newsletters and alerts in my email. The one I look forward to the most is the Bloomberg Briefs Sustainable Finance newsletter. There's always a ton of interesting developments in alternative energy, ESG (environmental, social & governance) investing and great statistics.
The latest edition includes a story dated July 18th on how clean energy investments are beating fossil fuels in the Trump era. This is obviously a surprise to many, considering the rhetoric we've heard about bringing back jobs in coal, oil and gas.
As I've said in the past, the alternative energy train has left the station, and while the tracks will continue to be bumpy, there still is no stopping this train. The rest of the world is continuing forward on their Paris Climate Accord goals and these technologies are vital to reaching them.
Overtaking an entrenched technology is never easy. The lobbying power of the fossil fuel industry is immense. But just like we no longer use horse & buggy or rotary phones, it's time we stop burning dead dinosaurs to power our lifestyles.
